Try these first. If you've already done them and still have no signal, the problem is inside the PS5 itself — bring it in.
Cables can fail. Try a known-good HDMI cable — if the picture returns, it was the cable, not the PS5.
Plug into a different screen. If it works, the issue may be your TV's HDMI port or HDCP settings rather than the PS5.
Make sure your TV is set to the correct HDMI input. Sounds obvious — but it catches people out.
Hold the PS5 power button for 10 seconds to fully shut down, then unplug both the console and TV from the wall for 60 seconds before restarting.
If the checks above didn't help, the fault is internal. Here's what we look for.
The most common cause. The metal connector inside the PS5's HDMI port bends or breaks — often from repeated plugging/unplugging or from the cable being knocked sideways. You may be able to see bent pins inside the port if you look closely with a torch.
The PS5 uses a dedicated chip to process and retransmit the HDMI signal. When it fails, the console boots and runs normally but sends no video to the TV. The port looks fine — but no picture comes out. This is a board-level repair requiring specialist microsoldering.
Less common — a partial power supply fault or corrupted video output setting can cause no signal. Safe Mode boot (hold power button for 7 seconds) can sometimes help with firmware; PSU faults need diagnosis.
